I always lik to have fun in my sport, too. I thought, I had to go party and sometimes eat bad food to have enough balance. And I still do those things, but at the right time. I did not drink a sip of alcohol all throughout the 4 weeks, that I had 4 races to do, on 4 consecutive weekends, including the German Championship Half Ironman and an Ironman. I watched what I ate, how much I slept and I had the best time, I did not miss anything. Because I was racing well and that made up for me 100 times for every party I missed or piece of chocolate I did not eat.

I thought of Lance and that gave me the determination to focus on what I was doing, to make the best of it. I think the unjustified doping allegations against me last year did to me, what cancer did to Lace. When the sport is about to be taken away from you, you realize how much it means to you. And I realized how much of a gift it is to be able to race. It makes me want to really give it my very Best.
